Levels of Beauty - 2 Many things are best viewed at a distance (tornadoes, lightning strikes, fireworks, etc.) and other up close and personal (your significant other, family, and many flowers). Sometimes we're treated to a gift from Mother Nature that has different beauty from a distance and up close. Such is the way with the Smoke Bush (Cotinus coggyria). From a distance (see Levels of Beauty - 1)it's a cloud formation at sunset with pastel purples and gentle pinks beckoning one to a respite on it's softness. The reason for the softness is revealed up close where bundles of feathers reveal themselves. One has to wonder if we're dealing with another fractal image and were one able to look even more closely at the individual 'feathers' we'd see another equally entrancing level of beauty.
