Patriotism
I, like you, have been shocked, saddened and angered by the events of September 11th. We fly our flag to show our pride for our country, our support for those families who have lost loved ones and our thanks to the thousands who are facing extreme danger trying to find survivors in the rubble of this cowardly, senseless act or are working to find and impose justice on those who did or would perpetrate such evil on innocent lives.
I share this picture of a sunset over the Olympic Mountains on July 4th, 2001. It symbolizes the end of our existence as it was before the events of 911 with our Flag rising high above. We cannot know what the tomorrow will be as we try to understand what has happened and adjust how we move through this changed world. What I know for certain - the terrorists have made a most fatal error. They will see and feel the strength and resolve of the American people.
