Nature's Tiny Bells As you walk through our State and National Parks these days, listen very carefully. When the wind blows you can often hear the subtle, melodic sounds of our native Salal (Gaultheria shallon) flowers. Each flower (bell?) is attached to the stem with a red star. The porcelain bell (flower?) exhibits a soft and delicate surface that undoubtedly contributes to the chorus one hears when carefully observing and listening to this Pacific Northwest Native. Move slowly, quietly and observantly through your world - there is beauty and a surprise for all who care to imagine, see and hear.
